hi! i'm emily

Curiosity drives so much of what I do. I’ve always been interested in understanding how & why things work, which has developed into a diverse array of hobbies and interests. I’m at my best when creating for others and strive to find solutions that make an impact. I'm a lifelong learner with great adaptability to new workflows, software, and environments.

Before jumping into UXD, I was creating assets for games/animated short films and crafting garments in the real world. What I loved about both fields was the balance between problem solving and design thinking - whether it be adapting a pattern to fit a body or developing workarounds under technical constraints.

During the pandemic, I noticed that I felt something was missing. In college, I had enjoyed the analytical aspects of play testing and other person-focused research, which were much less formally present in my work at the time. When I realized that what I enjoyed most in my work were the foundations of user experience design (research, problem solving, working with users and team members, design), I made the big decision to pivot.

In my spare time, I still love creating garments and textile art, reading sci-fi novels, and cooking for myself & my loved ones.
